Sustainable shopping at Unpackaged organic grocery store in Hackney

With every Tom, Dick, and Harry jumping on the eco bandwagon it’s often tricky to figure out who’s the real deal. So I was delighted to discover Unpackaged – a lovely local organic refill grocery dedicated to providing a workable and practical solution to sustainable living. Beautifully housed in their new Hackney store, you’ll find an unrivalled selection of high quality organic and environmentally sustainable products.

Currently stocking about 700 products from 50 odd suppliers, the team endeavour to source as much as possible direct from London based producers so it’s seasonal, as fresh as can be and ticks all the right sustainability boxes. Firm favourites include their delicious bread, fresh from a wood fired oven in Dulwich and the tasty salad leaves sourced directly from Wenlock Herb Garden.

As you would expect, there is a distinct lack of wrapping and packing which means you feel an immediate connection with all the fabulously fresh goodies on offer. And, their brilliant refill concept is truly inspired. Dotted around the shop are a series of inviting storage vessels each filled with daily essentials including flour and tea, grains and granola, wine and chocolate. Simply pop along with your container of choice for your weekly top up to enjoy a super feel-good (and fun!) shopping experience.
